About the Role

Wanyarra is a 20-bed adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit providing acute, recovery-focused care as part of GV Health’s contemporary mental health redevelopment. Our unit is known for its strong SafeWards culture, collaborative multidisciplinary practice, and commitment to evidence-based therapeutic engagement.

We are seeking an experienced Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN3) to lead and coordinate our structured activities and therapeutic engagement program. In this role, you will design, implement, and evaluate a diverse range of psychosocial, recreational, and recovery-oriented groups tailored to the needs of consumers admitted to Wanyarra. You will work closely with nursing, allied health, and lived-experience staff to promote participation, build routine, and enhance consumer wellbeing through meaningful activity.

What makes this role different?

This is a newly established position dedicated exclusively to improving therapeutic engagement across the unit. The Activities Nurse Coordinator will have autonomy to innovate, trial new approaches, and shape the model of care in partnership with the broader team. The role offers ongoing professional development, opportunities to collaborate with specialist programs across Mental Health & Wellbeing, and the capacity to influence service culture in a growing contemporary unit.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration as an RPN and eligibility for RPN3 classification (experience in acute MH, group facilitation, or therapeutic programs).
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, deliver and evaluate group-based and individual therapeutic activities within an inpatient MH setting.
  • Strong recovery-oriented practice, collaboration skills, and the ability to engage consumers with diverse and complex needs.
  • Well-developed communication, documentation, and clinical decision-making skills, with the ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Incentives & Support

  • Flexible rostering options
  • Access to extensive professional development and mental health training programs
  • Supportive leadership committed to innovation and clinician-led program design

If you’re passionate about improving consumer experience and shaping a dynamic, recovery-focused activities program, we’d love to hear from you.
