About the Role
We are currently looking for a Grade 2 Allied Health Assistant (AHA) to join us on a part-time basis until February 2027 at the Graham St campus, in a parental leave cover role. This role will work in the Physiotherapy Department with the opportunity to also work across Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (VPRS), and is a great opportunity to increase your AHA skills & competency across two different teams and a variety of patients and duties.
The Physiotherapy Department is a large team consisting of Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists and Allied Health Assistants, who are responsible for providing services to the acute & subacute wards, and also the outpatient and community services.
VPRS is a state-wide service servicing infants, children and young people up to the age of 18 who require intensive episodic rehabilitation. The team comprises physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech pathologists as well as neuropsychology and social work with visiting specialists from the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Our AHAs may assist the teams to deliver client centred services across different areas of the hospital and in the community. The role involves completing a variety of direct and indirect clinical and administrative tasks. You may assist a client to complete an exercise program, or activity of daily living, assist with facilitating a group program, order, clean and manage deliver of equipment and assist with the co-ordination of resources required for health professionals and clients.
Our AHAs work largely within these two teams but occasionally may work or be delegated appropriate tasks under the direction of other Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) such as Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Dietitians and Social Workers. AHAs are integral to the delivery of services across the hospital. This position, amongst others is responsible for promoting GV Health as a quality regional health service provider.
We are a large regional health service and involve our AHAs in our education and competency programs for their ongoing learning and upskilling to the hospital environment. We also offer supervision for this role from more senior AHAs or Physiotherapists.
This is an exciting opportunity to learn and grow in the public hospital environment and to contribute to our welcoming and dynamic team.
