About the role:

The Aged Psychiatric Assessment & Treatment Team (APATT) is part of the Goulburn Valley Area Mental Health Service. The Program provides mental health services to people aged 65 years and over, along with their carers, supporters and service providers. The APATT Clinician is responsible for the provision of mental health care to a defined caseload of older people who may be experiencing acute psychological distress and/or complex and severe mental ill health. The clinician will carry out initial comprehensive mental health assessments while engaging the older person and their carers. The clinician will work in partnership with the older person and carers to develop Recovery Goals, in addition to the provision of relevant evidence based therapeutic interventions. 

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualifications in Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Psychology
  • Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse or Occupational Therapist or Membership of AASW
  • Experience in the provision of mental health care to older adults or willingness to learn
  • Experience and expertise in the provision of assessment, treatment planning and intervention for people with a mental health disorder
  • Experience in working collaboratively with healthcare, and service providers agencies to support people in addressing mental health concerns
  • Experience in the provision of mental health crisis assessments, risk assessments, safety planning and crisis management planning
  • High level organisational skills.
