About the role

The Clinical Nurse Educator - mental health will provide clinical and educational leadership to support the implementation, sustainability and continuous improvement of Safewards, Reduce Restrictive Interventions (RRI) and Occupational Violence and Aggression (OVA) practices across the Goulburn valley Area Mental Health & Wellbeing Service (GVAMHWS).

The role focuses on workforce capability development, practice improvement and cultural change through education, coaching, consultation and role modelling. Working in partnership with Nurse Unit Managers (NUMs), senior clinicians and service leadership, the role supports safe, therapeutic environments that reduce conflict, restrictive practices and occupational violence, and promote recovery‑oriented, trauma‑informed care.

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience working in Mental Health Nursing and can demonstrate an ability to provide professional leadership, support and supervision
  • Advanced clinical knowledge, experience and skill in the provision of mental health nursing care including an awareness of current trends, and practices and an understanding of the rights of people with a mental illness.
  • Experience providing mental health nursing professional development programs including identification of staff educational needs, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of professional development and training programs
