Goulburn Valley Health is seeking an accomplished and inspirational midwifery leader for the newly created position of Divisional Operations Director and Director of Midwifery.
As the most senior midwife within Goulburn Valley Health, this is a significant leadership opportunity for an experienced midwife who wants to influence the future of maternity services, strengthen professional midwifery leadership and make the role their own.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Divisional Operations Director and Director of Midwifery will provide strategic, operational and professional leadership across maternity and associated services.
The opportunity:
This is not simply an opportunity to step into an established position. The successful candidate will help define the role, establish its priorities and shape how midwifery leadership is represented across the organisation.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Serve as the most senior professional midwifery leader within GV Health
- Shape the strategic direction of maternity and midwifery services
- Lead service development, improvement and innovation
- Advocate for women, babies, families and the midwifery workforce
- Play a key role in commissioning and shaping the development of GV Health’s new Early Parenting Centre, opening 2027.
- Strengthen professional standards, clinical governance and models of care
- Support, develop and inspire midwifery leaders and teams
- Build strong relationships with the Chief Operating Officer, executive team, clinicians and community partners
- Respond to the needs of a growing and culturally diverse community
- Create a lasting legacy for maternity services across the region
About you:
You must be a qualified and registered midwife with substantial senior leadership experience in maternity, women’s health or related clinical services.
You will bring:
- Current registration as a midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Significant senior operational and professional midwifery leadership experience
- A strong understanding of maternity service delivery, clinical governance, quality and safety
- Demonstrated experience leading service improvement and organisational change
- The ability to engage, influence and inspire multidisciplinary teams
- Strong commercial and operational judgement
- A collaborative, visible and values-led leadership style
- A commitment to culturally safe, woman-centred and family-centred care
Experience as a Director of Midwifery, Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Divisional Director, Operations Director or in a comparable senior maternity leadership role will be highly regarded.
