About the role

 

We are seeking an Enrolled Nurse to join our team in the Mary Coram Unit, which is a combined 40-bed unit that manages and cares for Rehabilitation, Geriatric Evaluation and Management, and Palliative Care patients. 

 

The Enrolled Nurse is responsible for providing safe and high-quality patient-centred care with scope of practice.  We work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.  The multidisciplinary team is based in the unit, and therapy is provided in the indoor / outdoor gymnasium, treatment rooms, and shared patient areas located within the unit.  Our focus is to work with the patient and family to implement patient-centred and goal-oriented therapy that improves function, maximises independence and optimises quality of life.

 

The Mary Coram Unit is recognised as the preferred specialist provider for inpatient Rehabilitation and Geriatric Evaluation and Management in the Goulburn Valley and Hume Regions.  We care for patients who have experienced:

  • Stroke and neurological diagnoses;
  • Orthopaedic fracture or replacement;
  • Deconditioning post-acute illness, surgery or trauma;
  • Complex and multiple medical conditions related to ageing, including falls, reduced mobility, acute / early-onset cognitive impairment, and chronic pain.

 

We also provide inpatient Palliative Care, and care for patients who have a life-limiting or terminal illness.  Our aim is to support the patient to live as comfortably as possible by managing symptoms; providing emotional, psychological and culture care; supporting the family; referring to services to support discharge; and providing end of life care..
