About the role
The Mental Health Graduate Nurse position is suitable for an enthusiastic registered nurse who has completed academic studies that lead to entry to the nursing profession. The registered nurse assists and works with other mental health staff to organise and co-ordinates quality care for consumers, carers and families who present to Goulburn Valley Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (GVAMHWS). This position supports the transition of the new graduate registered nurse to independent practice.
The graduate nurse will participate in the mandatory training program that has been specifically designed to assist the graduate to develop their skills and knowledge in relation to mental health nursing over the 12-months. In conjunction with the training program which includes an academic component, the graduate must complete the clinical competencies provided as part of the program at the identified time intervals as set out in their program. In order to meet the requirements of the program all competencies, assessments and hurdles must be achieved. This educational component will allow you to obtain recognition of prior learning towards post-graduate studies in mental health nursing.
About the candidate
- Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) through Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) prior to commencement in the Graduate Nurse Program
- Commit to the requirements of a Graduate Nurse Program
- Demonstrate motivation to learn and engage in various clinical environments across various sites
- Demonstrate a high standard of assessment, clinical reasoning, problem solving, organisational and prioritisation skills
