About the role:
The Hepatitis Clinical Nurse Consultant will be responsible for establishing and continuing an Integrated Hepatitis Service in collaboration with the Department of Health. This service will provide support for people living with Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) and Hepatitis B (HBV) in rural communities across the Hume Region. The role of the Hepatology Clinical Nurse Consultant is central to the delivery of this Service and will provide high-quality professional clinical care, education and support for people living with Hepatitis that are undertaking antiviral treatment. They will promote best practise to other key stakeholders within a shared care model between Specialist, primary care and other key community and hospital-based services, such as Primary Mental Health Teams. They will also provide a consultation role and expert advice to General Practitioners (GP’s), mental health and alcohol and drug services and other key networks.
Key selection criteria:
• Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse
• Certificate of Nursing Management and Treatment of Hepatitis C and B (ASHM-Australasian Society of HIV Medicine) or equivalent
• Member of the Australian Hepatology Association
Essential:
• Knowledge of diagnosis and broad management of Liver Cancer
• Extensive relevant clinical experience
• Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills, including computer literacy and the ability to produce well-written reports
• Ability to work effectively both independently and cooperatively within a multi-disciplinary team
• Proven organisational and time management skills with an ability to prioritise and coordinate a diverse workload
• Well-developed understanding and experience in change management processes
• Well-developed understanding of an evidence-based approach to person-centred care 4 GV Health Staff Position Description
• Satisfactory National Criminal History Check prior to commencement of employment

• Completion of a Commonwealth of Australia Statutory Declaration prior to commencement of employment.
Desirable:
• An interest in liver and gastrointestinal diseases
• Understanding of data entry and patient scheduling systems (iPM/VINAH)
• Demonstrated understanding of the special cultural needs of our diverse community
• Demonstrated autonomous practice
