About the Department:
The Infection Prevention and Control (IPaC) Department manages the IPaC Program across Goulburn Valley Health Service including healthcare facilities at Rushworth, Tatura, Euroa and Shepparton. The IPaC Program supports compliance with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standard Three (Preventing and Controlling Healthcare Associated Infections) with key programs including: surveillance of healthcare associated and blood stream infections, auditing and reporting, clinical product selection and trials, outbreak management, staff immunisation, furlough and fit testing.
About the IPaC Nurse role:
Under the supervision of the IPaC Consultant, the IPaC nurse is required to participate in the delivery of the IPaC Program. The IPaC nurse role consists of portfolios that rotate between IPaC Nurses, this ensures IPaC Nurses attain knowledge and competence in all areas.
Previous experience working in an IPaC specific role is not essential. However, candidates must have a passion for the specialty of Infection Prevention and Control.
The successful candidate will have:
- Current registration with the APHRA as a Registered Nurse
- A minimum of three years general nursing experience in an acute care setting, and demonstrated extensive clinical experience and knowledge of infection prevention and management practices
- Completion of an IPaC postgraduate certificate OR relevant tertiary qualification OR agree to complete the ACIPC Foundations of IPaC course within six months.
- Completion of a HESA accredited immunisation training course and possess recent immunisation experience OR agree to complete immunisation course within three months of employment.
- Highly developed; interpersonal, complex problem solving, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to initiate and maintain effective professional relationships
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and work autonomously within a small high performing team.
- Demonstrated ability to use a wide range of IT applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel
