About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Manager – Payroll Operations to lead the delivery of high-quality payroll services across GV Health and associated regional payroll services. Reporting as a key member of the Payroll leadership team, you will provide direction, leadership, and operational oversight to a team of Payroll professionals, ensuring payroll processes are accurate, compliant, efficient, and customer-focused.


In this role, you will oversee complex payroll operations, drive continuous improvement initiatives, manage audit and compliance requirements, and provide expert advice on payroll legislation, enterprise agreements, and public health sector workforce matters. You will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of salaries and wages while fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.

We Are Looking For:

  • Lead and manage Payroll Team Leaders, Senior Payroll Officers, Payroll Officers, and Payroll Administration staff to ensure a high-performing and collaborative team environment.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll for GV Health employees and associated regional payroll services.
  • Drive payroll governance, compliance, auditing, reporting, and risk management activities.
  • Provide expert advice on payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, Enterprise Agreements, and public health employment conditions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements, and operational efficiencies.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, managers, and regional partners.
  • Monitor workforce trends and payroll metrics to support informed decision-making and service delivery improvements.
  • Present audit findings and payroll information to internal and external auditors as required.


About You:

  • Minimum 5–7 years' experience in payroll leadership, preferably within the public health or healthcare sector.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing medium to large payroll teams within a complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, Awards, Enterprise Agreements, taxation, and superannuation requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage complex payroll operations, compliance activities, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with payroll systems and reporting tools in a large, multi-disciplinary workforce environment.
