About the role:

 

We are currently recruiting for an Acute Clinical Lead Physiotherapist to join our team at GV Health in a permanent, full-time role. This role is responsible for the planning and coordination of integrated physiotherapy services in the acute inpatient setting which includes providing clinical leadership to the physiotherapy team in this setting, to ensure high-quality services are delivered, and ensure physiotherapy facilitates efficient patient flow. This physiotherapist will also embed an inter-professional, team-based approach across all allied health disciplines to ensure the coordination of excellent, patient-centred services.

 

In the Acute Clinical Lead role, you will report directly to the Physiotherapy Manager, and also work collaboratively with other senior clinicians to oversee the delivery of quality services in our team. In the acute setting you will work effectively with medical and nursing leaders to ensure integrated and coordinated clinical care.

 

You will assist to oversee the supervision of students, supervision and mentoring of more junior clinicians and help facilitate and support staff education and competency training, alongside an appropriate clinical caseload.

 

Our team consists of physiotherapists, exercise physiologists and allied health assistants and delivers comprehensive services to the emergency, acute & subacute settings, as well as to outpatient and community patients. Our services are patient-focused, efficient and effective, consistently meeting established standards of excellence. Mandatory requirements include:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Physiotherapist
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in physiotherapy

About you:

  • Extensive clinical experience and highly developed clinical reasoning skills, and/or expert knowledge regarding evidence-based physiotherapy interventions in the acute inpatient setting
  • Sound experience and skills in leadership of teams at a program or service level
  • Sound understanding of physiotherapy models of care across the inpatient settings including the prioritisation of patients based on clinical need
  • Demonstrated understanding of patient flow and discharge planning including transition of patients through the healthcare system
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate clinical outcomes and practice based on evidence and research
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and a proven ability to effectively manage and negotiate innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Experience and understanding of the clinical supervision process, and upskilling and mentoring processes for physiotherapists
  • Sound communication and influencing skills within an inter-professional team environment, with an ability to engage key stakeholders and maintain effective professional relationships across organisational groups.
  • Experience in working with, and giving direction to AHA staff to meet prioritisation guidelines.
  • Excellent organisational skills and understanding of efficient time management.

 

Other desirable experience:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant acute clinical experience working as a physiotherapist
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification in relevant area of speciality and/or management (or working towards same)
  • Previous experience supervising junior physiotherapy staff and/or students on placement
  • Previous experience in service evaluation and/or redesign, process improvement and change management
  • Current Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) membership
  • Proficiency in a language other than Eng
