About the role:

The Postgraduate Student Midwife is employed by GV Health for clinical practice and enrolled with Latrobe University for the theoretical components of the program. The Postgraduate Student Midwife works under the supervision of the Registered Midwives. This position is primarily a direct care role assisting in the delivery of woman- and family-centred care and education in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods and the Special Care Nursery. Continuation in this position is dependent on the satisfactory completion of the University course requirements both academic and clinical. 

 

The Postgraduate Student Midwife reports directly to the Maternity Services Manager within the Maternity Services team. The Maternity Services Department manages the care of women throughout their pregnancy, birth and postnatal period.

 

Successful candidate will have:

·         Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse

·         Sound clinical assessment skills

·         Committed to delivering care that is woman-focused and family-centred

·         Basic knowledge of patient management and information systems
