About the Role: Procurement Officer
The Procurement Officer at Goulburn Valley Health (GVH) supports the organisation by sourcing and purchasing goods and services in line with GVH’s procurement policies and HealthShare Victoria requirements. The role involves obtaining quotes, evaluating suppliers and ensuring all purchasing activities follow ethical and transparent processes. A key part of the role is providing support to customers—clinical and non-clinical departments—by helping them identify suitable products, advising on procurement procedures, resolving supply issues, and ensuring timely delivery of the items they need to provide safe, efficient patient care. The Procurement Officer also maintains accurate purchasing records, monitors contract performance, and contributes to GVH’s goals of value, accountability, and reliable supply.
About the Department:
Goulburn Valley Health’s Supply Department is the central unit responsible for procuring, receiving, storing, and distributing goods across the health service. Operating under a strategic annual procurement plan, the department sources clinical and non-clinical supplies through fair, transparent processes, often leveraging joint contracts via HealthShare Victoria. It maintains inventory accuracy using systems like Oracle and ensures timely replenishment of consumables to wards. The Supply Department works closely with clinical departments to support quality care by ensuring supply levels match clinical demand. GV Health has a Healthcare Supplies Shop that provides consumables like continence products to the community / patients.
The Successful candidate will have:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain operations—preferably in healthcare
- Well- developed communication skills
- Understanding of procurement policies, probity requirements and ethical sourcing principles.
- Proficiency in Oracle FMIS and general computer skills (Excel, Word and outlook)
- Ability to work indepenedly as a part of the broader supply team.
