About the Role: Psychiatric Enrolled Nurse – Wanyarra Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit

Wanyarra is a 20-bed Acute Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit located within Goulburn Valley Health’s Shepparton campus. The unit provides short-term, recovery-focused treatment for individuals experiencing acute episodes of mental illness. Our multidisciplinary team is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care in a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment.

 

As a Psychiatric Enrolled Nurse (PEN), you will play a vital role in supporting patients through their recovery journey. Working under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurses, you will contribute to the delivery of individualised care plans, administer medications, monitor mental state and physical wellbeing, and assist in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu. This role offers opportunities to develop your clinical and interpersonal skills within a highly skilled and supportive team.

 

What makes this role unique is the collaborative and team-based environment within Wanyarra, with regular clinical supervision, ongoing education, and opportunities for professional growth through GV Health’s Mental Health Division training programs. You’ll also benefit from exposure to a range of acute presentations, allowing for diverse experience in psychiatric nursing.

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Current Enrolled Nurse qualification with AHPRA registration.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mental health nursing principles and person-centred care.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Commitment to professional development and maintaining high standards of clinical care.
