About the role:
The Pathway to Good Health initiative is a Victorian Government-funded program that provides comprehensive health screening, assessment, referral, and health planning for children and young people aged 0–17 years entering or re-entering statutory out-of-home care. GV Health’s Community Health program, in partnership with Primary Care Connect Shepparton, has been funded to deliver this initiative across the Goulburn region as a pilot project until 30 June 2027.
A unique opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and experienced Psychologist to join a dedicated multidisciplinary team alongside a Health Navigator, Paediatrician and Speech Pathologist, to deliver regular clinics to jointly assess children’s health and wellbeing and develop comprehensive health management plans for each child. As a member of the Pathway to Good Health team you will work closely with Child Protection staff and other key services throughout the region to support the provision of coordinated and targeted health care for children and young people in out of home care. In this role you will also provide psychological expertise and guidance to the team in using trauma-informed approaches to service provision.
The Pathway to Good Health clinic will operate from GV Health’s Corio Street campus. Access to fleet vehicles is available to support services delivery across the region as needed.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Demonstrated experience in the assessment and treatment of psychological, emotional and developmental issues in children and young people, ideally within a trauma-informed care framework.
- Understanding of the child protection and out-of-home care systems and the impacts of trauma, neglect and disrupted attachment on child development and mental health.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage sensitively and respectfully with children, families, carers and professionals from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to shared care planning and supporting coordinated service delivery.
