About the Role: Registered Psychiatric Nurse – Wanyarra Acute Mental Health Unit
Wanyarra is a 20-bed Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit providing short-term, recovery-focused care for adults experiencing acute mental health challenges. Our unit is part of a progressive mental health service and offers a supportive, multidisciplinary team environment. With access to modern facilities and ongoing service development, Wanyarra is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, you will provide comprehensive mental health nursing care to consumers in an acute setting, including assessment, risk management, and recovery-focused interventions. You’ll be working alongside psychiatrists, allied health professionals, and peer support workers to ensure collaborative care planning. The successful candidate will have:
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse with a postgraduate qualification in psychiatric/mental health nursing (or equivalent).
- Demonstrated clinical experience in acute mental health or a strong interest in building skills in this area.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, using recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care principles.
- Strong communication, documentation, and risk assessment skills.
