About the role:
(Anaesthetic Registrar - Independent)
The Anaesthetic Registrar is directly responsible to the attending Anaesthetic Consultant for day-to-day patient management, and ultimately to the Chief Medical Officer. They will provide the day-to-day clinical management of patients under the care and direction of the Consultant Staff of the Department of Anaesthesia to ensure a high quality of patient care. The Anaesthetic Registrar will undertake administrative duties for the Department under the direction of the Consultant Staff to ensure that the Department is run efficiently.
Delivery of Service:
- Provide high quality clinical care both in-hours and after-hours under the supervision of Consultant Anaesthetists.
- Provide perioperative and care to all patients in GV Health
- Assess and formulate management plans for patients referred to the Department for consultation
- Communicate assessment and management decisions to the appropriate Anaesthetic Consultant and referring team
- Review postoperative patients and communicate with the Anaesthetic Consultant and referring team
- Provide resuscitation and trauma management to all patients in GV Health
- Provide care to patients in all areas of GV Health, including the Emergency Department and the Intensive Care Unit when required to do so
- Provide analgesia and anaesthesia services to patients in the birth suite
- Participate in the Acute Pain Service daily ward round ensuring that all patients that require review are seen, and pain management issues are addressed
- Participate in the Anaesthetic Pre-Assessment Clinics
Successful candidate will have:
- Current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Medical Officer
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate positively with and appropriately with patients and others
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Professional collegiality towards peers and the wider health care team
- High level of motivation
- Commitment to clinical audit, quality improvement and research
- Evidence of a planned career pathway relevant to the position
