About the role:

As a Grade 1 or Grade 2 Speech Pathologist you will be well supported to provide high quality patient care across, acute and sub-acute inpatient clinical settings. You will function as an active member of our experienced and forward-thinking team, being responsible for the assessment and management of patients with acute communication and swallowing disorders across our inpatient clinical settings, Emergency Department, outpatients and/or outreach as required.

We have a focus on developing staff to achieve their career goals through in house competency packages such as videofluoroscopy, professional learning and emerging specialisations such as paediatric dysphagia. Regular clinical supervision is provided to all team members, alongside daily support from a mentor, onsite manager and senior clinicians. This position has the added benefit of support through the onsite Allied Health Education Research Unit who provide structured early career support programs. 

Our Grade 2 speech pathologists are expected to hold advanced clinical reasoning, have experience with quality improvement projects, have relevant clinical experience and be able to support more junior staff through clinical supervision.

We are looking for:

  • Strengths in team working with a collaborative approach across the multidisciplinary team and with patients and families
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and eligibility for Certified Practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia
  • Experience in the management of adults with disorders of communication and swallowing within a hospital setting
  • New graduates are welcome to apply
  • Candidates wanting to change pathways e.g. from paediatrics or Disability to inpatient admitted services
