About the role:
The Unaccredited Urology Registrar is directly responsible to the attending Urology Consultant for day-today patient management, and ultimately to the Director of Surgery and Chief Medical Officer. They will provide the day-to-day clinical management of urology patients under the care and direction of the Consultant Staff of the Department of Surgery to ensure a high quality of patient care.
Urology Surgery at Goulburn Valley Health provides elective and emergency care for patients in the catchment of Greater Shepparton. The role of the Unaccredited Urology Registrar is to assist in the coordination of urological services at Goulburn Valley Health, and provide appropriate care to inpatients and public outpatients of the Urology unit.
The registrar will receive tertiary support from St Vincent's Health, Melbourne, for the transfer of complex outpatient cases and for ensuring timely and appropriate urology referrals when needed. The Unaccredited Urology Registrar will provide a consultative service for patients of other units and emergency department, and also provide support for the senior medical staff in the care of the Surgical Unit’s patients as required when covering On Call.
The Urology Unaccredited Registrar works with and helps supervise Junior Medical staff (HMOs and interns) assigned to the Surgical Unit. The Urology Unaccredited Registrar will be involved with regular urology ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, audit, teaching, research and participate in surgical unit as required. They will undertake administrative duties for the Department under the direction of the Consultant Staff to ensure that the Department is run efficiently
